This very old characterful stone house with attached barn and spacious garden, sits close to the centre of the village of Saint Martial-sur-Isop, founded by a monk who had a diagreement with his fellow monk who then founded the adjacent village of Saint Barbant. The villages are now friendly with one another and have regular community events.
The house is at least 300 years old, perhaps older, and is full of lovely oak beams and the kind of character you would dream of in a French cottage.
As you enter the house, there is a large living room on your left, with stone fireplace/logburner and windows on two sides. A door from the living room leads to the kitchen, which also opens onto the dining room, which also has access to the entrance hall (you could walk around it in a circle). Accessed from the kitchen, is a WC, cellar / workshop room with a window and an external door.
The old oak stairs go from the entrance hall to a landing leading to three bedrooms, one with an ensuite shower room, plus a general shower room (large enough for a bathtub), both with WCs. Attached to the house, is a stable, and a large barn - in fact this was a press for cider and that fabulous equipment remains along with a mill wheel, and the barn has ample windows and doors if you wanted to convert it to accommodation.
Across the garden, a large garage (for 2 or 3 cars), plus a small stone outbuilding with fireplace (great for barbecues, or as a shed).
The flat garden has open countryside views, fruit trees and two wells.
The house is on mains drains, and the roof was re-done about 15 or 20 years ago. The furniture is negotiable.
This is a very charming location. Sold furnished
